Studio Brief 01 | Leeds Public Spaces | Evaluation

Evaluation In conclusion, for my final print I am please with the results even though the print was either uneven or patchy due to the paint drying up or how I poorly aligned. However it does add some effects like showing the screen print process.  I was very undeceive with which event I should design the A3 screen printing poster of, I was particularly undeceive between the two events I that drew illustrations of which were 'Leeds International film festival' and 'Leeds International beer festival' . I was very tied by two designs that I did for both of them as both were good designs. Even when I received feedback from peers they also struggled between the two designs. Despite this problem, most of them said that the international film festival is more popular/well-known event compared to the other. This is why I went with the ' international film festival ' as my event that I will focus more on.  When it ...

Studio Brief 02 | Product, Range and Distribution Brief | Breastfeeding Controversy - Feedback/Development

Feedback from first mock up designs Majority of the feedback came back positively to the poster and sticker designs.  The slogan or quote is very popular with many of my peers. They said it really makes the audience think about the difference between all the milks.  Some say that the poster with the darker background is not so approbate with the colour scheme choice. But the carton of milk packaging aesthetic are very well displayed on the poster.  Positive feedback on comparison of other types of milks (skimmed, semi-skimmed, full fat).  Some of the colours of the other cartons are a bit stronger. Diverts the eye to them than the bright pink carton. Better to tone it down like a lighter colour of the same colour - makes the pink carton more visual.  The motive is very familiar to a feminist movement - which is the objective? Might have more of an impact if facts were on the posters?  The poster co...

Typefaces and colour scheme Before starting on the designing aspect of the advertising/promotion side of the brief. I first wanted to see which typefaces and colour scheme would be the most appropriate and suitable for the target audience. I tried established the feminist style of work due to the majority of the target audience is based on women's rights.  So for the purpose of inspiration of a feminist approach. I stayed with very girly yet strong typefaces. Such as Valentines typefaces and makeup typefaces which have very strong female semiotics. Below are some examples that I will be experimenting with:  For the colour scheme I have a selection of feminist yet pastel colours. This is to attract the female audience and display an non-violence approach to the male views. I will experiment with these colours to see which one looks the most friendly yet has a powerful imagery.  Development...

Studio Brief 01 | Leeds Public Spaces | Development - Choosing final print to submit

When choosing which print to submit for the exhibition our university is holding. As I wanted red back ground for my poster, I decide to cut out the reminding white paper and then stick a red paper background on the back. However, this was not a good idea as the design I cut out with a craft knife looked uneven and bumpy. I also added some gold foil to add some confetti effect to the poster design.  But in the end decision from some peers and tutors the white background looked more better. The red poster would be nice to display however there are to many bumps within it.

Studio Brief 02 | Product, Range and Distribution Brief | Breastfeeding Controversy - More Research

A COMPARISON BETWEEN HUMAN MILK AND COW’S MILK The composition of milk varies according to the animal from which it comes, providing the correct rate of growth and development for the young of that species, thus for human infants, human milk is obviously more suitable than cow’s milk. Indeed, the popular consensus among health care professionals is that ordinary cow’s milk, goat’s milk, condensed milk, dried milk, evaporated milk, or any other type of milk should not be given to a child under the age of one. This is because of differences in the composition of milk that have been revealed by research over the last decade or so. While cow’s milk and human milk contain a similar percentage of water, the relative amounts of carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals vary widely.               Protein The carbohydrate, protein and fat content of milk from one species is finely tuned to meet the nutritional require...

Studio Brief 01 | Leeds Public Spaces | Development - Screen printing

To begin the screen printing process I had to use two screens to print my design on. My design consists on using two colours, these are black and gold.  To commence this method I find two screens and begin to take off the previous emulsion print on the screen. To do this I will need to use too types of liquids to rub away with a sponge - so the emulsion will be able to wash off with water on the screen. This has to be done twice on the front and back of the screen, by using the power water jet and consistently going from left to right until the screen is clear of emulsion.  One all the emulsion is gone and the screen is cleared. The screen needs to be dried for 15-20 minutes before the new emulsion can be put on.  Once the minutes are up it is now time to put the emulsion on. Lean the clean screen facing the outer area, this is were the emulsion will be put on. To apply the emulsion onto the screen yo...
