Studio Brief 02 | Product, Range and Distribution Brief | Breastfeeding Controversy - Development

When it came to choosing between the disabilities or breastfeeding issue, I found this part extremely challenging as both ideas were good and there are many ways of campaigning the two issues in their variety of concepts. Despite this with the help and support of feedback that I received from both peers and tutors, I decide to commence on the issue of 'Breastfeeding in Public controversy'. The reasoning of this being the final decide of my topic was due to the popularity and demand of peers/tutors took on the idea.  In social media there was an uprise due to women being discriminated due to breastfeeding in public. Due to the extreme hate against women breastfeeding, there were many protests and high advertising controversy for the rights of breastfeeding in public.  For a starting point to create a  campaign  for supporting woman's rights for breastfeeding. I have created a spider diagram branching...

Studio Brief 02 | Product, Range and Distribution Brief | Disabilities or Breastfeeding in Public Campaign Sketches & Ideas

To commence this brief, I did some sketches on both issues 'Disabilities & Breastfeeding' this will allow me to get a better guide line on how I would like to present the issue to the public eye.  These sketches were very quick and rough of either semiotics/symbols of both issues. For example the disability campaign informs the audience not to damage or misuse of universal designs and the breastfeeding campaign is to inform the audience that it is not against the law to  breastfeed in public places.  Below are the sketches of both campaigns. I am unsure which issue I would like to create for this brief, so I will receive feedback from the sketches. This maybe come with other ideas that my peers and tutors could advise me to do for my final product.  Powerpoint screenshot of both issues   Disabiliti...

Feeding Our Children or Fueling Controversy? By Tracy Gillett, THE BLOG 01/28/2016 06:35 pm | Jan 28, 2017 “Done,” whispers my sleepy two-year-old. He pulls my pyjama top back across my chest and rolls over on the pillow. He hugs me, and drifts off to sleep. I lay with him in the shadows for a little while. One of the best parts of my day is watching him rest beside me in the quiet black, sated, happy, and secure. Breastfeeding has given me this gift. This gift of connection. Of love and comfort. My boy and I have done this thousands of times, but still it feels new. When I think of what my 20-year-old self would think I smile. I never thought I’d breastfeed. And certainly not for as long as I have. But almost 1,000 days in, it has changed me. Softened me. Made me more accepting, patient and calm. I’m proud of women’s bodies in a way I wasn’t before. I’m proud of my body. Pregnancy changed it. I am in awe of the gift it gave me and the way it continues to nurture my son and keep...

Studio Brief 02 | Product, Range and Distribution Brief | Issue Research - Breastfeeding in Public

Breastfeeding in public: what rights do you have? Expert legal advice on what you're allowed to do when breastfeeding in public places, plus how to do it discreetly and great retorts to negative comments.  If you breastfeed your baby, there's bound to come a time when you have to breastfeed in a public place. You know the score - hungry baby, tingling boobs, milk delivery needed NOW.  But when you breastfeed in public, there's (sadly) a chance some people are going to stare, tut or even voice their disapproval. It's not much fun at the best of times but can be positively weep-worthy when you're tired, hormonal and struggling to get your baby to latch on. The key thing to remember is that you're not doing anything wrong. It's the tutters and starers and disapprovers who are wrong – because it’s actually against the law to stop a woman breastfeeding in a public place. So, next time your baby pulls that 'Wah! I'm hungry!' face in public, rem...

Studio Brief 02 | Product, Range and Distribution Brief | Issue Research - Disabilities

Research of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Definition - Persons who has disabilities, disabilities discriminates & lack of universal design. Universal Design • Universal design (close relation to inclusive design) refers to broad-spectrum ideas meant to produce buildings, products and environments that are inherently accessible to older people, people without disabilities, and people with disabilities. •The term "universal design" was coined by the architect Ronald L. Mace to describe the concept of designing all products and the built environment to be aesthetic and usable to the greatest extent possible by everyone, regardless of their age, ability, or status in life. However, it was the work of Selwyn Goldsmith, author of Designing for the Disabled (1963), who really pioneered the concept of free access for disabled people. His most significant achievement was the creation of the dropped curb - now a standard feature of t...

Studio Brief 01 | Leeds Public Spaces | Development - Vector & Colours

Development of Sketches After the previous feedback from my quick sketches of the celebrated events that I selected to design. I continued with drawing a digital outline of these posters designs, as a vector then transferring the vector into Photoshop to experiment colours - that my peers & tutors advised me to do.  Vector Designs ' Leeds International Film Festival' ' Leeds International Beer Festival ' Film Festival Typefaces - Experimentation LittleLordFontleroy - Typeface Carrington - Typeface  Above - Typeface For the 'International film festival' I wanted the selection of typeface that I have chosen to represented the red carpet yet cinematic aspect. For example the typeface for when the film finishes 'The End'. And the other just a simple contemporary typeface capitalised to make the title stand out to the eye.  When testing these typefaces on the illustrative post...
