Studio Brief 02 - Design for Screen

The brief: Create an immersive and engaging screen based user experience for a media of your choice, this could include: Website, App, Streaming service, Title Sequence, Ident's, Onscreen Graphic overlays, etc.

Before undertaking this brief you should identify the following:
  • The Client
  • The Problem
  • The target audience
  • The overarching aim of the project (what are you trying to achieve)
The role of the communication: Deliver a world class digital experience that engages the audience, how can you maximise the potential of digital devices?
Considerations: Must be global — Digital formats are viewed on a global scale, this must inform your approach and design decisions.

Use mixed media — A combination of image, audio and video should be used to communicate your message

In identifying and developing your outcome the production decisions should inform, direct and enhance your overall design treatment. You should consider the following:
  • The processes and procedures involved in designing for screen.
  • The relationship between designer and developer.
  • The role and skill set of the developer (and where you would find a developer to work with)
  • Research - what already exists in the design field, how innovative can you be
  • These considerations should be documented on your blog and design boards.

Design with all those consideration in mind, includes after effects (animation)
Animation prototype - explain how the animation will work, the production of the process and  so on.

For next week task we need to create our own brief based on 'Design for Screen'. After researching and understanding User interface, we need to make a brief proposal.

OUGD603 | Extended Practice | Brief 03 | Development - Publication Layout design - Leah | BBC (Our Generation) - Life being British Born Chinese

Publication Layout - Leah For the inside of the 'Our Generation' publication, the collaborator Leah was in charge of this  brief's outcome segment. The publication's layout was constructed with 'Adobe Indesign' Leah made guide lines and measurements to help assist where the Photographs and the text should be placed. Illustrations of a paint brush stroke was experimented to give the pages more characteristics. We mutually agreed to make the size of the publication A5 format, and the number of pages are 16. Previously it was going to be 17, however one participant was unable to provided us with their childhood photo for us. Due to this situation Leah had to be more selective with the photos and information (Quotes) that we believe was significant for outlining our briefs context.  Below are some images of this layout format: Participant page order by names: Katie Sung  Leah Chen  Jackie Wan Tracey Lau Eliza Mo Kylie Lee Lewis Capper...

Studio Brief 01 - How Do You Read?

In this Studio Brief 01 - How Do You Read? We need to use the range of fundamental design principles that we have been taught: Colour theory, frame & format, type & grid... Which all of them gives us a inform comprehension of the building blocks of graphic design.  Overall, our aim of the end of the Studio Brief is for us to design and produce a small publication (booklet, leaflet, etc.) that collates materials which, in turn, can communicate key factors of design principles to the reader.  These are some of the key factors of Design Principles: Gestalt Principles Colour Theory: Systematic Colour Colour Theory: Subjective Colour  Grids  Figure/Ground  Balance  Alignment  Proportions  Canons of Page Construction White Space  I may choose to look at one of these and expand it, or all of these or even a selection of these subjects which I want to present within my small publication that I will develop and ...

OUGD603 | Extended Practice | Brief 04 | Final Design & Evaluation | Action against Animal Cruelty Campaign - Petection |

Final Design - Petection Adoption Gift Box Below are the finished photographs of the physical Petection adoption gift box.  Evaluation In conclusion the design process of our Action against Animal Cruelty brief also known as satisfactory. Initially at the beginning stages of the brief we were unsure to either do something minimalistic or extravagant  to produce for the final outcome of the brief. We wanted to make something which is able to make main consumers and new potential consumers the awareness of animals in cruelty (especially: cosmetic testing, medication/science, used for fur and adopt not buy.) One idea of final outcome was to create four seasons of animals magazine. The reason of this idea was that an editorial product such as a magazine will be able to convey the awareness of animals in cruelty. The second idea of the potential final outcome was to create an adoption gift box, with posters and a possible website mock-up design.  ...
