OUGD603 | Extended Practice | Brief 03 | The Brief | BBC (Our Generation) - Life being British Born Chinese
The Brief - Collaboration with Leah Chen (Graphic Design) & British-born Chinese Society (University of Leeds).
Outlines:
“Made in Britain/Not Made in China/Our Generation" — integration of the different cultures (Chinese and British). The project will be based on British-born Chinese individuals (like ourselves), as well as the potential of looking at other Asian ethnicities born in a different country.

Timeframe:
1 to 2 months : March/April/May.
Considerations:
Who is the intended target audience?
Anyone with an interest in culture; young adults, students; people of similar background.
What purpose does it serve; what do you want to achieve from this brief?
The celebration of the two cultures and individuals; to understand integrity and the effects it can have in life. Culture is often celebrated for a large group rather than the minority — in a way, wanting to get our voices “heard”, or at least show that there are different sides to a said culture.
What are the potential deliverables and setbacks (excluding blogging/documenting and design boards), and how will you overcome it?
The current ideas of potential deliverables is possibly doing some kind of exhibition — think “Humans of New York” style, but maybe with a more creative twist. Other ideas are creating a small publication or a series of posters. For the exhibition, one setback is not being able to find a suitable space, so preparations will have to be made weeks in advance if necessary. However, this may not have to be a physical exhibition, but could be a digital/online exhibition.
