Studio Brief 02 - What is a Book? - Sketches

In this design board, it shows my rough sketches on how I would like to layout my Horoscope book. Some of design of the Horoscope that I have thought of in my sketches a Cloud shape book or just basic rectangular/square book.

The binding of this would either be a saddle-stitch binding, Japanese Binding, section sewn or as a peer suggested to me an Accordion binding technique. However, I would need to experiment if this would be an appropriate way of sorting the information that I want as well as the images that I will have in the Horoscope book.

For the Star Sign illustrations, I tried to stylise it as to be minimalistic and simple yet effective. As I will make stencil of them, then spray metallic colours (Gold, silver, etc.) for it.

Publication Layout - Leah For the inside of the 'Our Generation' publication, the collaborator Leah was in charge of this brief's outcome segment. The publication's layout was constructed with 'Adobe Indesign' Leah made guide lines and measurements to help assist where the Photographs and the text should be placed. Illustrations of a paint brush stroke was experimented to give the pages more characteristics. We mutually agreed to make the size of the publication A5 format, and the number of pages are 16. Previously it was going to be 17, however one participant was unable to provided us with their childhood photo for us. Due to this situation Leah had to be more selective with the photos and information (Quotes) that we believe was significant for outlining our briefs context. The session started by identifying if the red on the apple was really the colour red? Then Danny took us to a red circle and told us to stare at it for a while, he then quickly changed to slides to a white background and we could see the red circle faintly. Why is this? Then he should us a paragraph and asked if we could read them? And we could even though the letters are placed different in a word, we are able to read them.
