Final Design
Below are the final designs of both the logo, shop sign mock up, business card mock-ups and product examples. These choices are made by the clients.

Feedback from client

"We were very pleased and satisfied by how quickly and efficiently Katie worked and  designed the logo for us. Everything was delivered on time. Katie always communicated very well. We were both impressed with how she incorporated the feedback we gave into her designs, she always consciously and aware of what we wanted overall, sent many new variations of the logo designs, always referred back to feedback and messaged us for specific information (e.g. Business card enquires) and she was able to explained her designs to us and how it would be much better (i.e. change of the colour scheme). To conclude the final results were great. I would highly recommend Katie, given my experience with her. We are both very excited to rebrand our hairdresser logo in a physical format".

Evaluation
In conclusion the design process of redesigning the hairdresser's logo 'Ed's Hair' was challenging yet rewarding. Initially sketching the 'Ed's' logo was very easy as the client knew what they wanted and ideally needed for their new logo design. They outline clear instructions of their logo thoroughly. By regarding to current hairdresser's logo designs online it was inspiring and helpful as it help guide though what elements are needed. 

By using Facebook messenger as a media sharing platform to share the development of the logo designs to the client, this was beneficial for the both of us. We were all able to communicate efficiently due to this platform as it can take big files where as Email Inboxes need to be cleared to allow bigger files to reach through. There were times that the client would not responded straight away depending on how busy the hairdressers were. I would have to message them again to respond. Due to the lack of communications it was difficult to develop the logo in a moderate rate, thus the time scale and deadline was either extended or altered.

There was a slight disagreement with the colour scheme change as they originally preferred their current colour scheme. However, after explaining clearly and concisely the reasons why the colour change is more adequate to their salon they understood and agreed with the design change. The clients adored the idea of bring 'Brazilian' aspects to the new logo design as the diamond shape of the Brazilian flag was used for their new outline and pattern theme of their logo and business card mock-ups. 

However, the most hardest part of the design process was creating the hairdresser's store mock-up signage. This was due to my lack of Photoshop skills to make the logo look realistic and physical. This was a major obstacle to the brief as it took many trials and errors to get it as close to a real signage as possible. 


Overall, the brief enjoyable yet demanding. The reason of this is that there were many times that the client and I would have disagreements with the design. Despite of this we were able to understand why we had these disagreements and were able to corporate with each others feedback for a more ideal and suitable logo design for the client. The communication between the client was to and fro due to their individual commitments and the lack of efficiently responding immediately. Therefore insinuating or sending a message to remind them to provided me with some feedback on the design was vital. The process of the design did run over the initial deadline about a week. But in the end the final design and business card mock-ups were successful. To conclude, working with a client can be difficult yet stressful at times but there is always a solution to work and communicate effectively when considering their individual commitments (running business and hours they work).

Type in Context - Final Indesign Layout

After the trial and error of printing the pages with my first intial scrapbook concept. I decide to change the layout of my  pages as the first layout was difficult to work with when adding text.   Instead I did a layout like this (images are below) the text and photographs are in more of a consistent and organised scale. My peers gave me advice on what text to put within my publication pages, they said facts and figures will be interesting as it will relate to the photographs. Because of adding more photographs/text to the pages of the publication, I therefore had to add more pages. So in the end, there was about 30 pages in my publication. Overall, the images on the Indesign preview look decent and I will print this out within the Digital Print room’s paper stock. 

Studio Brief 01 - Secret 7: Final Design

In this design board, I have chosen this Record Sleeve design cover to be my final  submission for the live brief - Secret 7. I particular favoured this design as it really  portrayed the artists song and style well as the variety of the different shades of blue tones gave a good theme for the overall concept of the chosen lyric that I selected. “You were the perfect star. Again describing the meaning of the design will be yet again explained here. The symbolism  of the star is similar to a heart of the person who is going through a heart break thus this  is similar feeling when the break bit is being cracked like glass. The glass look makes it  highlight that the person’s heart is very sensitive and weak and the colours of the different  shades/tones of blue express their unhappiness and also how innocent and pure they are. The way the star outline repeats depicts how the person is slowing forgetting the perfect star  which has broken the heart...

Ideas for Type in Context Publication

IDEAS In this blog post, I have found some examples on how I would like to layout my Type in Context Publication. As my target audience is aimed at people who like hikers and historians. This type of publication will inform the readers how our way finding signages have stayed the same rural design. For the amount of text I want within my publication, the direction of where this publication is going will only be a minimum amount of text. This maybe only just an introduction page and possibly a content page.  The publication will either be a rural guide book or a coffee book for cafe where tourist/hikers/cyclist and so on, stop to have a break for some refreshments. The target audience of this specific type of publication will be at a demographic (geographical).  To create this type of publication, I will use Indesign to help me arrange and layout my pictures. This will then be easier for me to print it out professionally.  The siz...
