OUGD603 | Extended Practice | Brief 07 | Packaging Development | Student Starpack Awards 2018 - The Future Milk Bottle

Design Development
Firstly it is important to get the correct measurement for the cover until the genuine design is completed. To make sure the measurements are correct cartridge paper was used to make a template. This template was then put on top of the 3D model.

Follow from the initial designs of the previous milk bottle. By using the same design as the design boards that were submitted for the competition. When considering how to produce these designs for the milk bottle. It was appropriate to use a matte stickers to stick the designs on the plastic bottle. The bright colours of the U.K. milk selection (red, green & blue)    will be a good contrast against the white plastic colour. Colour lids and labels are made for the sticker design for the bottle. The logo design is the typeface known as Eurostile:

Final packaging of the Future milk bottle designs
The future milk bottle additional packaging is a cardboard box which is a carrier (rope string  for the milk bottles. The sticker designs for the carrier box is the logo of the milk bottle brand and the back stickers is the information of each of the milks, these are colour coordinated.

The construction of the box was made from an original cardboard rectangular box (similar to a shoe box. The box was then cut in half, the other half of the box the base was then cut into a window shape for the milks to been seen. The window area was made by acetate sheet which was stuck in the inside of the box carrier. The lid of the box carrier was constructed by the lid of the original cardboard rectangular box. Again the lid was cut in half. the other half of the lids longer edge was cut and stuck to make the opening and closing mechanism of the box lid. This all assembled by using masking tape and then to cover the tape was then all concealed by parcel paper. This kind of carrier is supposed to be reusable for the supermarket to refill the milk in the packaging. The sticker design for the packaging showcases the brand and the information details of the different kind of milks.

For the handle of the milk carrier the side of the box was drilled so the string can go through. Then the strings were knotted inside the carrier. The handle should be long enough for the consumer to carrier on their shoulders.

Sticker label design for the carrier was printed on
a matte finish.

Illustrations of a paint brush stroke was experimented to give the pages more characteristics. We mutually agreed to make the size of the publication A5 format, and the number of pages are 16. Previously it was going to be 17, however one participant was unable to provided us with their childhood photo for us. Due to this situation Leah had to be more selective with the photos and information (Quotes) that we believe was significant for outlining our briefs context.  Below are some images of this layout format: Participant page order by names: Katie Sung  Leah Chen  Jackie Wan Tracey Lau Eliza Mo Kylie Lee Lewis Capper...

Studio Brief 02 - Licence to Print Money | History of Money & Banknotes Research

Money History The word money comes from the Latin 'Moneta' - which is the first Roman coinage that was minted at the temple of Juno Moneta in 344BC. Before coinage, various objects such as cattle, pig's teeth and shells had been used as money. For most of its history money has taken the form of coins made of precious metal. The money has had intrinsic value. Many of the units of modern money recall their origin in amounts of precious metal (e.g the pound sterling was originally the Roman pound (twelves ounces) of silver.) The Beginning of Banking in Britain In Great Britain, the modern age of banking began in 1640 when King Charles I, needed cash to pay the (English) army that he was raising against Scotland ( of which he was also King.)to seized the golf bullion that many merchants and nobles had placed in the Tower of London for safe-keeping. In 1642, a further warfare broke our with the English Civil War between the King and Parliament. London was the stronghol...
